To sign up for a ministry, please go to the Parish Life tab on the Home page and click on Ministries to complete the sign-up form Music MinistryJoin together in song, under the talented direction of our Choir Director, Jackie Thurrott. Music Ministry consists of Adult Choir, Hand Bell Choir, and Youth Choir. Adult choir rehearsal on Wednesdays 7:30 - 9:00pm. Hand Bell Choir Rehearsal Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:00pm. Youth Choir Rehearsals Wednesday afternoons 3:30 - 4:30pm. All rehearsals are held in the main church. All ministries are taught music theory. Altar SocietyThis group arranges flowers for the Sanctuary, keeps inventory of supplies for Mass (candles, hosts, wine, etc.), coordinates Church decorating at Christmas and Easter, laundering altar linens. If interested in this important ministry, please contact the Rectory at 978-459-0713 Eucharistic AdorationMondays from 7:30AM to 12:30PM from September through May. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by volunteers who sign up for one hour or more to pray before the Lord Jesus present in the Monstrance. Eucharistic Adoration takes place in the Chapel Finance CouncilAdvises the Pastor on financial matters of the parish and school. Responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budgets. HospitalityThis group helps prepare for special occasions such as our annual spaghetti and meatball supper and our Saint Michael Feastday celebration. A great way to get to know one another is when we share food and conversation. Offertory CountersA group that counts the funds collected at Mass each week. Each group volunteers about once a month. Parish Pastoral CouncilThe PPC is involved in most activities and programs effecting the liturgical and spiritual life of St. Michael Parish. Protecting God’s ChildrenAll of the clergy, office staff, and every volunteer is required to attend a Virtus—Protecting God’s Children training session, an archdiocese sponsored program which teaches an awareness of those persons and situations which could endanger our children. The state also requires volunteers to submit a yearly CORI form. Senior Altar ServerMen and women who assist at Mass or Funeral masses to enhance the worship of our faith community. Stations of the CrossHeld Friday evenings at 6:30PM in the Chapel during Lent. UsherVolunteers who assist people to their seat if necessary. They also take up the collection. |
Bereavement MinistryThis important ministry assists the priest and Funeral Directors in outreach to bereaved families. They help the family plan the funeral by assisting in selecting readings, hymns, assisting or conduction Vigil services (wakes) and/or gravesides commital services when the priest is not available. If interested in this rewarding and fulfilling ministry, please contact Fr. Guy Sciacca at 978-459-0713 Altar ServerBoys and girls from grade 4and above who assist the priest at the liturgy. Baptism PreparationPreparing parents for the formation of their child’s faith. Extraordinary Ministers of the EucharistExtraordinary Ministers of Communion who serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound. Fellowship CommitteeVolunteers who coordinate social activities and gatherings of parishioners during the year. GreetersParish volunteers who warmly welcome parishioners as they enter the Church for Mass. LectorReader who proclaim the Scriptures at Mass and other services. Outreach to HomeboundVolunteer Eucharistic Ministers who bring the Eucharist to registered parishioners who are homebound. RCIARite of Christian Initiation – preparation of adult candidates for Catholic sacraments. SacristanDuties include preparing the altar for Mass and cleaning the altar following Mass. St. Vincent de Paul SocietyFounded in 1948, the St. Vincent de Paul Society has strived to administer to the poor and needy of the parish. The work of the Vincentians is funded solely by the contributions deposited in the St. Vincent de Paul boxes at the exits of the church. |
